Sorry we could not attend your farwell at your Mom & Dad’s. Hope you are enjoying the beginning of a great adventure? We look forwadr to charting your adventures and I will be talking with your Dad. He is very proud! Be safe.

Jefferson…Just read on the Doulos News there’s a new ministry station onboard called their Coffee Cafe, where they set up at each port in an area after they disembark the stored land vehicles and equipment for the local building ministries. Sounds cool place to work and/or meet visitors to the ship or shipmates during your “free” time.

I noticed on the ship’s travel log that you are in Brisbane until 9-8-08, and then off to southern Australia. From your last email to us I trust you have made it all the way by now, and you have boarded the Doulos, met your cabin mates and others, decided upon your initial work assignment
and unpacked to settle into mission. Probably will take you a few weeks to get your sea legs, and then being on land will feel funny.

We got a skype microphone and look forward to our first phone call from you over the internet when you are ready.

Check out Romans 5:1-11. Pastor Bill Mitchell taught from these verses the last two weeks and personal obedience, group obedience (your OM church & fellowships), and sacrificial obedience as exemplified by what Jesus did. We can rejoice in our relationship with God through His saving grace, and respond to God : Speaking the truth in love (Eph 4:15); Serving (John 13:13-17); Sacrifice/Suffering (Romans 5:3-5); Giving generously and with gratitude(Zech 4:6-7).

Anxious to hear from you and see more picture updates. Let us know when you get your warm clothes package too.

Dear Son, I laughed, I cried, I hooted, I cheered. I was there with you as I read your new blog accounts. Did you have to mention the cockroaches?! I asked Our Father for a word for you – Psalm 3:3-6. It begins: “But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, My glory and the One who lifts up my head…..” It sounds like he has done that already. I miss being able to pick up the phone and chat but I am so happy that you are there in God’s perfect will. I Love you, Jeff

Hey brotha’! thanks for keeping us/me up-to-date. It is great to hear your stories and reflections. I would have loved bushwhacking it with you on that jungle trek. Sounds Awesome. And all these experiences, it seems, are turning your heart MORE toward Christ. That is great to know, and an encouragement to me to look for the Lord’s hand and guidance through the grand and minute experiences of each day. Your descriptions make me feel like I’m right along side on the journey. Wish I was. And I want to pray more that, like you, He will grow in me a compassion for the hurting and forgotten. Merry Christmas! I loved seeing you last month and enjoyed the stories you told too. I have told a few of your ship-shenanigans to many. They are amazed!
And so now our Great and Glorious God is taking you on another adventure One in which you have peace. I’m happy to read that.
My morning devotional was this.

I AM KING OF KINGS and Lord of lords, dwelling in dazzling bright Light! I am also your Shepherd, Companion and Friend- the one who never let’s go of your hand. Worship Me in My holy Majesty; Come close to Me and rest in My presence. You need Me both as God and as Man. Only my incarnation on that first, long-ago Christmas could fulfill your neediness. Since I went to such extreme measures to save you from your sins, you can be assured that I will graciously give you all you need.
Nurture well your trust in Me as Savior, Lord and Friend. I have held back nothing in My provision for you. I have even deigned to live within you! Rejoice in all that I have done for you, and My Light will shine through you into the world.

So…. continue on and go shine that Light. You are dearly loved by us!

Hey Jeff! It’s Sam from H2O. I’m praying for you, man, and I hope these two weeks in the Philippines are truly a blessing and a time to reflect.

How’re you dude …..
It was so great to go through your Nepal report, ohhh awesome report and thats how all going to be down in India baby it looks like you’re having some harsh times in culturally,i know sometimes even it nightmares you as well. but they all friendly and lovely as you by now probebly noticed and bit understood except poor and may not afford for you guys to look afer you in that tiny house, right from your house to city everything is diffrent and ununderstandble things over there you see.
Moreover i do hope things will be fine , wish you the best Jeff and as you know things on board right now packing and packing and sendinmg off the board and just emptying it and we’re taking the ship to India for the scrape but we’ll be here until the march ist week i guess. and things somehow going well and we Jer,Tomm,Tyler Drew having some kind of fewllowship and enjoying the time here.
